Colonel
Patricia E. Ryan was assigned as the Chief of Staff-Army National Guard,
US Army Maneuver Support Center, Fort Leonard Wood, MO in February 2009.
Prior to her current assignment, Colonel Ryan served as the OCONUS OIC
for the Rapid Fielding Initiative supporting PEO-Soldier in
Kuwait
,
Afghanistan
and
Iraq
. Prior to that deployment, she spent three years as the Chief of the
Military Support Branch in the RI National Guard supporting domestic
emergencies, working with both state and federal agencies.
Colonel
Ryan enlisted in the Rhode Island National Guard on 23 March 1983.
She completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at
Fort Jackson
,
SC
in December of that year. In
1987, upon completion of
Officer
Candidate
School
, she was commissioned a second lieutenant, Military Police Corps.
She deployed to
Saudi Arabia
in support of Desert Shield/Desert Storm, and upon return to RI,
commanded HHC, 43d MP Bde and the RI National Guard Recruiting Command.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from
Roger
Williams
University
while holding numerous part time and full time assignments within the RI
National Guard.

Her awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (four
awards), the Army Commendation Medal (four awards), the Army Achievement
Medal (three awards), Armed Forces Reserve Medal, National Defense
Service Medal, GWOT Service Medal, GWOT Expeditionary Medal, Southwest
Asia Service Medal and the Kuwait Liberation Medal .

Colonel Ryan has a daughter
Jennifer, a graduate of Northeastern University in Boston and a son, PFC
Matthew Ryan, serving as a member of the 126th Aviation
Battalion, RI National Guard.
